This may have been a dealer add-on. I had friend who bought a 1995 F-150 with the 4.9 and a manual five speed. It was silver with the maroonish bottom and it had the GT and some graphics on the rear of the bed in the same color as the bottom stripe. The graphics were just tape and needless to say they did not stay on after my friend purchased the truck.

I've owned and worked on plenty of the 3.8's. I wouldn't call them turds. Once you get some good head gaskets in them they are damn good car engines. And it's not like putting in head gaskets is a hard job. I've never had to replace a head gasket set twice in any of the 3.8's I've done.

Plus if you ever have the chance to beat on one in a Super Coupe T-bird they can be pretty fun to drive!!

But a 300 is still a better engine!

T-Bird SC was awesome, Ford should of did a recall on the 3.8's blown head gaskets at 30-40K insane ! then you had the 4.2 mod's V6 upper intake gasket would go around 60K

The ones I had/worked on were all well over 100,000. I've done the head gaskets in both the FWD's and the Cougar/T-bird RWD's pretty simple jobs just time consuming. If you want to complain about something I'd complain about the frickin transmissions on those FWD 3.8's!!!! Now those aren't cheap or easy to fix!! Gaskets easy, auto transmissions a little more difficult. I hate rebuilding automatics!
