Anyone ever do the Great (American) Race?

I always enjoyed reading about and going to Rally's as part of the Great American Race, it is now just the "Great Race". 2007 was the last year it was done due to lost sponsorship. Coker Tire and Hemming's Motor News have bought the rights to it and it is back again this year, thank God. It is going from Chattanooga, TN to Vermont over 7 days.

A good buddy of mine and I are talking about entering and I was wondering if any of you guys ever did this? It looks like great fun!

I have not run the race however about 13 years ago I sold my 1934 Ford Tudor sedan to a gentlemen in Vermont that ran it that year in the race (coast to coast at that time when it was sponsored by Interstate Battery). He came in second in the novice division . He ran other years but felt that the race was too hard on the 34 since it was a really nice original car. When I bought it it had 27,000 original miles. I owned it for about 15 years. My wife still regrets that I sold it and so do I.

I remember reading about the last one, and they said participation was down from previous years. I think it would be fun to do, especially if they would let you run some stages rather than have to commit to the entire week. My wife and I got involved in sports cars 25 years ago running time/speed/distance, or tsd rallys, which is the format the "race" is run under.
