Hello People of the internet

I have an 03 f450 with a couple electrical issues. The dome light won't turn off the dash says the doors are closed. They feel closed as well, the switch on the dash is off as well. Brought it back to the dealer where I bought it but they are to busy to look at it right away. So I took the bulb out. Fast forward several months to now I would like my dome light back. Where should I start looking for the problem?

The other problem I am haveing is the taillight fues will blow 10 seconds after I put it in. Will do this for a couple days. Then it will be fine for a month then do it again. I'm not to worried about this right now as I ordered a new aluminum flatbed to replace the steel one. So al the wiringa and lights will be changed out then.

I am currently having the same dome light and door indicator problem with my 03 f250. Hope we get some takers on this one.

 

Had that problem with my '99' never did figure the dome light problem out. My fix for it was to pull the dome light out and just had a small flashlight handy for the darkness.

 

Is it the main dome light and not the controlled map lights? It could be a few things. The dim switch for the lights might be bad and the dome light might be stuck up. Another option is that the relay for the interior lights has gone bad. Circuits do wierd things when relays go bad. As for the rear lights, you may have some corrosion in the rear wiring harness. As for you 400nut, if the door indicator light is on as well then you might have a bad button that thinks a door is still open. Flashlights work but that is a hassle and I'm a perfectionist so I want my truck to work flawlessly in every aspect. Hopefully one of these is the culprit. Anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on something.

Sounds like the GEM Module. That's what controls the dome light. I just replaced one last week on a Taurus.

 

Thanks for the fast replys. My dome light does shut off after I get moving after about 100 feet of driving. After I park and exit the truck, the dome light stays on for quite awhile... 10 minutes or better before shutoff. I will try the GEM module. Thanks.

 

400, it could be your GEM but your's sounds more like a bad door sensor.

 

I would rule out the door switch, if that were the case it would trip the warning lamp. Could a bad switch at the dome light causing the light to stay on. Possibly the headlight switch/dimmer. Are all the dome lights on, not just one?
