Good luck!

I hope you love the 5.8!

I'm glad I dont have to work on those vans, looks like a tight spot.

What do you do? Lift the van off the motor?

This is my first van I've pulled the motor on. My best guess is to just drag it forward until I can hook to the back eye hook. Anyone done this before?

Re-size your pictures before posting them, please!

Good luck on the swap! You're going to love the 5.8!

The 4.9 is a great engine but it looks like the 5.8 would be better suited for your '89!

Nothing wrong with the size of the pics. They are too big when you have to scroll to the side to see it all.

Congrats on the new engine!

I've pulled a few out of the 91 and older vans but not the 92+. I have a bad feeling you might have to pull the upper intake off to get it out. And what I usually do is support the engine with a hoist and then unbolt the motor mounts from the perches and the engine block. Then i lift the engine and get the mounts out of the way.

But like I said I'm afraid you are going to have to pull the upper intake off to be able to get the engine hoist arm in there and be able to lift.

You might want to make a post in the van section and ask for some advice on pulling it.

Yep, the upper intake will have to come off. If your lift has a boom made like an old one I used to have, you can flip the boom over and it will slide just above the engine giving you enough room to lift it. I sure hate I sold that one. After you've done a van once or twice, it's no harder than any other, just different.

Good Luck!

Hey it's no problem man!

I completely understand. Nothing sounds as good as a V8!
