92 f250 d44 question

Hello, I have the opportunity to pick up a front pumpkin from a 92 f250 with 4.10 gears and ls. I am wanting to know if this is a direct bolt in for my 91 f150. Both trucks have the TTB split d44 front axle. Are there any differences between the two axles besides the 8 lug outers on the f250. If so can I swap the f250 axle on to my truck and change the outers to my 5 lug. Any info would be great.

The axles may look the same but they're not. The F250 has a D50 TTB axle not a D44. Check the pumpkin, there'll be a 50 cast in it just under the pinion.

That sounds reasonable, the guy who has it swears it a d44 but I will have to check. Will the whole thing go under my truck if I swap out the needed parts from my truck. Spindles, brakes, hubs, rotors, etc?

If you want to do some major fab work. The D50 has leaf springs and your D44 has coils. The D50 is not worth the trouble in my opinion.

Not all F250's got D50 in the front. I have a 89 here with the D44hd front axle. There has been many post about this and how to tell one from the other. There are small changes between the two keeping you from just changing knuckles, or spindles and converting between the 5 and 8 lug set up.

However No the F250 does use leaf springs and with out welding frame horns on your frame you will not have the pivot pocket for the front shackles.

The guy who has it hasn't got back to me when I asked him to verify what axle it is. I was mainly interested in the 4.10 gears and the LS thats in it but if I cant use the pumpkin in my axle then I will move on.
