I've not used it, but it looks like it'll will work with the 7" bulb. Another source would be a vintage Mustang parts vendor, but if you can get it local... it would save shipping cost.
Anyone used this retaining ring from Help!? Dorman Products - 42408 Universal "fitz-all." It might work, but it does not match the originals.
EZ to find in junkyards...
1941/79 FoMoCo Passenger Cars, 1941/86 Trucks, 1966/79 Bronco's & 1961/77 Econolines, all with single round headlamps, used a similar retainer.
Originally: 11A-13015-A / Replaced by: C9DZ-13015-A in 1969, then by D3TZ-13015-A in 1973..
The original (1941/68) had a feature where each bracket had a hole in a figure 8 pattern. It could be put on, then twisted to install it. The screws did not need to be removed.
The replacement doesn't have this feature, just a single round hole in each bracket (similar to the Dorman retainer ring). The screws have to be removed to install it.
The Ford types have three brackets spaced equally apart (for example, like a Mercedes-Benz hood ornament). This "fitz-all" is the same style as D3TZ-13015-A, but has more brackets.
D3TZ-13015-A .. Headlamp Retainer Ring / Available from Ford.

Want a NOS "original?" 11A-13015-A =
HAVEN FORD in Haven KS has ONE = 620-465-2252.
JST AUTOMOTIVE in Lebanon TN has ONE = 615-443-3086.
LINCOLN OLD PARTS STORE in Clearwater FL has ONE = 727-445-7551.
CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has FOUR = 800-476-9653.
I'd try soldering the old one unless it has other issues. drill a small hole through the ring and tab. Stick in a piece of copper wire to hold it in place and give the solder something to (wick) on. Clean it all up with a file. IMHO!
