HPx-riffraff diesel's high pressure oil line cross over connects the two oil rails on top of the heads to even out the pressure in them. I've read mixed reviews on the end result of doing this (not just riffraff's product but the whole idea). Some say it's great some say it didn't do anything. Do some research for yourself, don't just take my word.

FRx- riffraff diesel's answer to the dead end fuel rails on the 7.3. Supposed to be a very good unit that does a good job of allowing air to be removed from the system. In stock for the only way for air to be removed from the fuel rails is to go through the injectors.

fuel cross over- most any product or DIY setup to end the fuel rail dead end.

I chose to build my own fuel crossover after doing a ton of reading on kwikordead's setup. I like it be cause it is simple, cheap and effective. Clay's (riffraff) seems to be a nice product that will meet the needs of most guys but I tend to be pretty frugal ( my friends call me cheap) so that's why I chose the DIY route. I bought the exhaust adapter for my van turbo from Clay and would certainly do business with him again. Give him a call if you have any questions.

Well the "new" motor I got is running well. I've got about 5,000 miles on it and have had no issues.

I took the heads off of the blown engine last week and found 6 cracked pistons. The two that didn't crack were the cylinders that the rods had broken off of. The injectors all look good as well as the heads. The head gaskets showed no signs of leaking anywhere.

Thanks for sharing the crack piston information. I'm not a professional mechanic, but I interpret that to mean the timing was overly advanced - resulting in pre-ignition. The timing advanced too far before top dead center, taking it out on the pistons and rods. Your engine didn't blow because of any inherent weakness of the PMR piston rods - at least that's my conclusion. Did you hear or sense any engine knocking? I think you already commented on that once earlier on in your thread and said no.

Here is a few shots of the piston tops.

The pics might be the same piston but I can't remember.

I didn't notice anything different when the motor let loose. I had stopped by a friends shop and let it idle for about 10-15 minutes. 300 feet from his shop drive I took a right turn and as I was accelerating it completely let go. I was probably at 2,000 rpm.

Bowl cracking is pretty common, but what I'm noticing is the piston in the first pic looks like it's been way over fueled for a while that's a very odd bowl pattern, did you have some bad o rings?

Some interesting comments. Any more cracked piston top pics. Be interesting to get some more feedback from others in-the-know.
