Crossover vehicle for a 52 Ford F1

I am new to this forum and was hoping that I could get some good feedback/recommendations. I recently purchased a 1952 Ford F1 and now am beginning the restoration part. I have wanted a 52 Ford for many years, just never thought the wife would let it happen!! I have a couple questions (well, I actually have many but I have to start somewhere):

1. A friend of mine asked what the crossover vehicle is (1952 Ford F1)?
2. If I am using a generator to do the work, what size/brand would you recommend? I am hopefully going to do most the work myself, however it will be in a storage unit without power!!

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Steve

Hi Steve,
Not sure what you mean by crossover, but will guess you're asking about the equivalent of modern trucks..... The 48-52 F1 was the first of the F series, replaced in '53 with the F100 badge and in the 70's with F150 badges.

It's a shortbox half-ton two wheel drive pickup. GVWR of 4700 #s The truck weighs in the neighborhood of 3150 so your payload including driver is 1550 #s

As far as a generator, you'll want something heavy duty depending on the work that needs done. Welding? Grinder? Compressor? Lights? I'd list the items, take the one with the most current draw and find a generator that can produce twice that much juice constantly.

If you have the truck in a commercial storage stall, I would be surprised if they'll let you do work on the premises. Is this a temporary situation?
