Getting my Bronco Painted
I need to protect my truck against rust and my paint is 14 yrs old, so I need a paint job. I'm going to be going to Earl Scheib most likely. Not Maaco. I'm doing the bodywork myself(taking off mirrors, trim, bumpers) and fixing all rust spots and dents myself....including a little bondo work.
I don't have the cash for a great paint job, but I'm not sure how you can go wrong with a $500-$600 paint job with a 6 year warranty against fading or loss of gloss, peeling, chalking, cracking and wrinkling. I think that pretty much covers anything that goes wrong. So it may not be the best paint job in the world, but if anything goes wrong they'll fix it. And I have no problem spending $600 for a paint job that lasts 6 years.

FORDZGAL--- LOOKS GREAT
As for the cost to do my Bronco. 3 gallons of Durabak black at
$80.00 a gal. Rented a compresser for 1 day $30.00 and purchased a undercoating spray gun w/ a 1/4" tip $70.00.
Another good thing is that I had 18 years worth of door dings and rusty rock chips that all I had to do was sand out. If I was to "paint" my Bronco then I would have had to bondo all the small dings. Another good thing is Durabak come in a bunch of colors but that adds about $30.00 more per gallon. For the Bronco
owners, Durabak works just fine on the fiberglass tops.
The only thing I miss with the Durabak liner is the trail pinstipping that I use to get with a painted truck.
See Ya, Gary

well he took off all the trim and did all his prep work. He didn't worry about all the little dings because rhino fills them and you can't tell. I know it wasn't more than 600...could be less. The shop that did it raised the price to 800 now cause of all the business we brought him
