Hello guys,

I have a 2002 7.3L Ex. It has the paddle type mirrors... My wife and I have been searching scrap yards high and low and waiting for a good deal on a set of tow mirrors on the net for over a year now. Well I believe that my wife has come across the best deal on the net last night and so I fired off my order. here is the details and I will post pics of the install after I recieve them.

The list price is $467.15 ea
They are on sale for $218.58 ea

I am in the Army and asked for a military discount.
I was given free shipping and 10% off the mirrors.
My total for 2 mirrors shipped was $413.26
this is the BEST deal that I have seen on these mirrors.

They will fit a 2002 with minor modifications to the mirror... When u take off ur old mirrors u will see that there are 3 bolts that attach it to the door... On the 09-2011 mirrors their is a 4th bolt. You have two options at this point...(a) you can cut off the 4th bolt.. Or (b) drill a 4th hole in your door to attach it to... I may do option (b) I haven't decided... The wires are pretty straight forward... My 02 looks like it has the same plug type as the new mirror.. not sure yet tho.. In the pic they look similar... even so if u do a search on here there is a plethora of info in these forums to wire them up to your truck with no problems... Good luck!

Don't think they are a direct swap (especially for a 2002 EX) as the early EX's (like mine) do not have the wiring for the Turn signals AND I thnk the connector is a different shape as well but I have not checked.

TXSailor,

mine is an 02 7.3L limited ultimate edition... My original paddle style mirrors have power / heat / led turn signals in them... However I'm not sure how wire plugs will
match up... But my plug is rectangular like the ones I'm the photos of the mirrors I ordered... Thanks tho!

Just want to give you a heads up tip when you install them. When removing your old mirrors, try to have magnetic sockets (10 mm?). This could prevent the nut from accidentally falling down into the abyss between the door inside. Also when you disconnect the connector, tape a string or rope or wire to the end of it before you pull it through the door. This way, you can use the rope to pull the new connector through the door and not have to try fishing it through. It'll save you some time and headaches. Good luck.

Either way you look at it you will be making modification to the wiring. The plugs will not fit together.
When I did mine I broke apart the plug on the new mirror to get at all the individual wires, and the separate polls. Then went to radioshack and purchased a D-sub connector kit(connector for wiring computer plugs) and used them to plug into the new plug polls.
The new wires that I had to run, soldered on a d-sub poll and plugged into corresponding new plug poll and heat shrunk together. The wire colors that I was able to plug into the old/stock connector I just heat shrunk a pc on the poll and opened it up a bit with an awl and that plugged right onto the poll in the old plug.

Added some electric tape to keep them tighter together,-no movement. This is the poll from the new mirror.

New wires have d-sub poll soldered on and plugged into new mirror wire poll and heat shrunk to stay together.

You will also have the mirror adjustment backwards unless you rewire the new mirrors. Some can live with it, but I could not. The adjustment left and right are reversed. When you adjust left the mirror will move right. You can find the instructions on that fix in the super forum. Easy to do, and I did it on the bench before mounting on the truck.

TYZ78F150,

Here are some pictures of the mirrors. They are still on the truck. I have not recieved my new ones yet. They just shipped today. I have had them off before in the past and they have the rectanglular type of plug and not the round type that is found in the earlier excursions. After I recieve the new ones then I will be able to take a picture of the plugs if needed. They are a little dirty in the pic. It had been raining and I just had got back from a 140 mile drive in the rain when these were taken.
