Louisville Gauges?

I'm doing quite bit of work on an '88 L-9000, and I have a LOT of parts to swap over from a '96 L-9000..... The big thing is that I'm swapping to the '96 L-10, and all of the related wiring. I have everything outside of the cab ready to go, but the inside..... Anyway, I still have the original tachometer -it was set up for an L-10 Cummins. Will the new sender fry it? The new sender was original to the '96 L-10 - I'm wondering if the '96 sender will talk to the '88 tachometer.

Doesnt the tach have the little din switches on the back of it?

You should be able to dial the tach in by using the switches..

Is the tach sender on the bellhousing? If it is, then the question will be did both of the flywheel ring gears have the same number of teeth?

The old tach has just a rotary switch to choose between different engines. The newer tach has the tiny switches on the back. I have no idea on the number of teeth on the flywheel, as the old L-10 was gone when I got the truck. I was just going to switch the tachs, BUT the new ones has 5 wires, and the old one 4 not sure what I would do with the extra?

Id leave whatever tach is wired into the truck you're using. See if it works, then if it doesnt, start trying to source some wiring diagrams to find out whats going on.

Chances are the tach will work.
