what is the black canister mounted to the frame

I guess this is kinda of a newbe question but what is the black plastic canister that is mounted about 1 foot behind the fuel filter. Following the lines from my fuel tank towards the cab there is the mysterous black canister then a long canister then a fuel filter. what are the 2 canisters between the fuel tank and the fuel filter.

Ok, I am going to butcher this. The rearmost one is a fuel selector valve or if you have one tank its some sort of valve that seems pretty useless. Mine leaked and they dont sell them anymore so I just omitted it without problems. There is a more technical name for it but thats what I got.

The other one is probably a high pressure fuel pump. There is a pump in (each) tank on the sending unit which are low pressure and then there is a high pressure one on the frame rail.

The correct name is Single Function Fuel Reservoir. It is used to keep fuel supplied to the high pressure pump when the truck is going up or downhill. Removing it could cause stalling problems. If you had dual tanks the name changes to Dual Function Fuel Reservoir.

Here is some info on it from Steve83: 1983 Ford Bronco '84-89 Fuel Reservoirs pictures, videos, and sounds | SuperMotors.net

Don't want to thread jack but I believe I have a kink in my metal line to rear tank. I can't find a place to purchase the line aside from making my own can I use a rubber line?
