Importing a truck from the US

With the Canadian dollar edging over parity and analysts indicating it may go as high as $1.05 to $1.10 this year, is importing a truck worth the efforts? I priced a new 2011 F450 DRW 4x4 Lariat crew cab at $55K in the US. I haven't been to my local dealer but I'm guessing the cost savings may be considerable. Surely it's worth the pain to look in the US?

Thanks,

Chris Rodgers

$55,000, and you think that's a good deal??? When my mom and dad bought their last truck (98 Chevy 3500 4 door 4X4), they paid $31,000, and thought that was too much. I paid $1000 for mine, and was whining about that.

Not sure about new vehicles but I think you might have issues with Ford if you buy it in the states, especialy the warrenty. Used ones are ok but new might be another story.

I too have always heard that factory warranty is not honoured cross-border.

I'd double check the warranty. As far as price goes, you better check here too. I saw a new f350 DRW last year for $65,000. By the time you haggle the price, it might not be worth the trip.

Unhappy Scam

I deal all the time in world wide transactions be very carefull.
Even if contact is made by a phone call the whole deal can be bogus.
Just finished a Pay Pal scam with a truck I had for sale.,
