ANY IDEAS ON THIS COLD START NOISE?
IVE BEEN TOLD BY DIFFERENT MECHANICS THIS IS PISTON SLAP, Y PIPE FLUTTER, AND TIMING CHAIN PRETENSIONERS. THE V10 HAS 166.000 MILE ON IT AND IS A EARLIER 1999. IT DOES IT ONLY WHEN COLD STARTING IN THE MORNING. IT CAN SIT FOR HALF OF THE DAY THEN CRANK IT UP AND IT MAKES NO NOISE. IT RUNS GREAT AND HAS PLENTY OF POWER. IVE TRIED MOTORCRAFT 5W20 SYNTHETIC BLEND, CONVENTIONAL 10W30, AND MOBIL 1 FULLY SYNTHETIC 5W20 IT HAS NO AFFECT ON THE NOISE. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE VIDEO IT STOPS AFTER A MINUTE. Could it possibly be that the exhaust manifold has a leak, and as it warms up and expands, it seals the leak? Sounds awfully loud for a leak that small, but it's worth checking. See if there's any black spots around the exhaust manifold indicating a leak.
If you have a mechanic's stethoscope, it might help nail down where the noise is coming from which would help a whole lot with identifying the noise.

I don't know if the V10 has hydraulic lifters, but I have a minivan that made that kind of noise. I gave it an oil change with one of those additives where you idle the car for ten minutes while the additive dissolves internal sludge, then replace the oil. Totally took care of the problem over 5 years ago.

A few things to check.
Take a piece of hose, about 2-3 feet long, put one end near your ear, and hunt around for the noise with the other. Start at the back of the valve covers, and work your way forward, and then check the timing cover, and finally, the sides of the block, and the pan.
That does NOT sound like piston slap.
It definitely sounds valve-train related, and definitely sounds like single or maybe multiple lash-adjusters (lifters) not pumping up.
That's definitely a '99 with a 2005-2007 nose?
