good deal Dan.

another alloy wheel bites the dust!
i got done with the neon for the girl across the street, and my daughter pulls in with her pos, with a bent 18 inch rim.
that makes 3 times i have had to replace a rim on her 3000 gt. she HAS TO HAVE the pos 18 inch rims and 2 inch tires, cause it makes the car look cool even though they make it ride like it has square wheels!.

ok, rant over.
i think i am gonna get drunk.

I bet that was a high pucker moment glad you are safe.

Prolly not the lift that did that to the sector shaft just a wear fatigue thing. Youll either need a new box or replace the shaft in that one. Hydro assist is a good way to take stress of your box sector shaft and i dont mean the factory hiboy setup.

anybody got specs on the size of the sector shaft? me and a buddy are going junkyard scrounging soon and i think we have a ford grain truck or two in one of the local yards. might try to get some numbers from it and see if it is bigger and possibly swappable.

Dan, I can probably pull a box apart tomorrow but I HIGHLY doubt theres a stronger stock replacement out there.

idk, but i'm hoping the the bigger f-trucks (like f650's and up, they are a grain truck to me)have a better option in them.

From what I can remember on the 80s F700s we had back in the day the steering box was ****in' beef. Theres no way a sector from that box would fit in a 3/4-1ton box.

kris, i'm talking swapping a whole box in if it is reasonably sized and has a bigger sector shaft, not swapping shafts between the two boxes.

Might be cheaper to get a new daughter. My niece trashed the motor on her car because she ran it out of oil right after I spent about two bills having a alternator put in it. Wanna trade?

What about the whole box? Thats what I am talking about. I would like to have a bigger stronger box in there and not have to stick a bigger shaft in the box I have now. That would be the way to go if it would not be a major nightmare to make it work in our trucks.

scatgo, if and when i get out to a yard i'll try and get some measurements on the big truck box if we still have one in our local yard.
