FT or FE???
i have a 360 ('76 f150) that will most likely need a rebuild soon. i've been reading a bunch on here and noticed that many people have said that trucks tend to have FTs?? would this be the 361 or 391 then? if i'm going to rebuild, (haven't checked casting numbers, etc. yet) i'm assuming that i have a 360 FE, but what's the difference b/w the 361 FT? One more thing: are there any chances that no compression in a cylinder means a valve problem instead of rings? is this a "common" problem?

Those engines are FE engines. The blocks have many similar characteristics of FTs though. The block has extra main webbing and usually thicker cylinder walls. The distributor hole is cast for the FE distributor but bushed down to use the FE distributor. Every part in that engine is an FE part. No compression usually does mean a burnt valve or a hole in the piston. Bad rings will give low compression but never zero.
