Good looking truck man. I agree about the paint though. Flat black is a pain in the butt and your truck looks nice the way it is.

p.s. I loved the stocker wheels.

looks good. I went from a coil spacers and 33"s to 6 inch lift and 35"s
with the same tires you have. I think I going to add a 2" body lift next.

Bill, I am just thinking about it. I only can go 2 more inchs or it will not fit in my garage and I like my truck in the garage. I got the 6" lift used or I would have gone with a 8" lift kit.

raptor, I'm not one of those guys who shoves my opinions down other guy's throats but my F-150 has a body lift and I am very unhappy with it. I wish I had just done it right the first time and gone with a suspension lift. I try to ward off other fellow truckers from body lifting their trucks.

Your truck looks great by the way. Do you have any plans on re-gearing it for those big 35's?

Flat black is going to be hard to get clean and with black, clean is everything IMO.

I like it the way you have it. If it were me I would paint the bumper to match the truck and like one other said and move the bumper up to fit the bodylines. Theres just something badass about a slick black truck.

I dont know maybe the worse is to come...but I dont see any problem with the body kit on mine.....(except for dealing with the bolt issues during installation it was a complete add-on job with no reconstruction at all

I have my own reasons for not liking body lifts. This isn't to say I think anything less of a truck with a body lift; it's simply the body lift that makes me nervous. I have one on my truck and plan to one day take it off. I might not but I want to.

I just think when it comes to a vehicle important things like body to frame mounting, suspension, brakes, etc. shouldn't be done halfway. This doesn't mean you have to pay for the best, pay the highest price; just do it right!

I'm not looking to offend anybody and I'm sorry if I have! Just my worthless opinion from a slow learning italian!

Bill, hopefully when i get some extra money i will get the gears changed.
Why do you not like the body lift? Is it the handling?
I like your truck, but I wound have lowered it. My dream truck wound be
any Lightning or SS454 (sorry).

What do you plan on gearing her to?

If I could do it all over again I probably would have lowered mine too. I always liked the Power Wagon stance though and wanted to make my own version. Tho in my defense I did have big plans. 351 swap, solid axle, 3/4 ton rear end, etc etc etc. That has all hit a brick wall.

If I could do it now I'd do a mild lower with 3.73's instead of the 4.11.

I like the SS 454 too. Always wanted one actually. But I love the Lightning more. I would love to own both, in black.

I don't like the body gap with my truck. I did manage to hide it with rubber flaps. I also don't like the extended distance between my body and frame. I'm hard on my truck. It's a mall crawler compared to a 4x4, but compared to other 4x2's this truck does get beat on (within reason).

Plus I don't have any extra suspension travel.

I just wish I had saved the $150 and put it into a real suspension lift. I would have my body on my frame and added suspension travel. More useful and safer.

I just feel like body lifts can hack up a truck if they aren't done right. I just try to diswade anyone from installing them on their own rigs. Just trying to prevent a Ford brother from doing something he may regret!

Oh, one more thing; I have had nothing but radiator hose problems with the body lift. It has left me broke down once already.

Bill, I most likely go with what conanski said in another post with a 302
to use 4.56's. I now what a gear change will do. I had a 1988 iroc-z with a 350 tpi that I put a 5 speed in it.(you cound not get a stick shift with a 350 until 1993) It had like 2.77 and I cound not use 5th gear unleast I was going over 70 mph. I got a garage to put in like 3.27 and it wound do around 145 mph. That was the fastest/quickest car I ever had.I mess it. I sold it in 2003 to get a Nissan Hard Body.

I got long tube headers, dual exhaust, timing bumped up and that helps
to move the truck with 3.55 gears. I just can not use 5th unless I doing around 65 mph on flat ground. So it is a 4 speed around town.
