Egt sensor, bank 1

Egt sensor, bank 1
I've searched a bit and it seems no one knows how long we can ignore the engine light when it throws a code saying there's a problem with one of these sensors.
The code is for bank 1, sensor 1 I think. I do have 2 sensors in my glove box but I need to run 500 miles today and 500 home Tuesday with my work trailer. I'd like to wait until I've done my work and returned home before I dig in to the issue. I'm afraid if I start removing sensors and seeing what happens I might make the problem worse?
Anyone know if I can just "do what I gotta do" and fix it later?
