BAD BAD FRAME BEND IN NOSE 86 F-150
#17
To repair your frame, I would go to the junkyard and get them to torch the front of a good frame off, and then you can cut your bad piece off and weld the new piece in place.
I would somehow try to extend or add bracing back further on the frame, where it's boxed and close to the heavy crossmember. The open "C" area on front of the frame is not very strong. Also the frame is very thin, so any mount needs to be wide with lots of bolts to spread the load over a large area of the thin frame. The bolts and the plow mount are strong enough, but the frame is too thin to use just a few bolts.

Thank you . Today I jacked it back in place. I then came over the top from way back on the frame and cross frame with 1/2 x 2 steel and bolted it in with big washers and big bolts.I then attached it in the very front on top. I am now running same type steel along the side of frame to very bottom of plow frame sides . This should buy me some time until I can replace the truck.
