Looking for 1951-52 F8
I would like to know if anyone knows about a 1951-52 Ford F8 for sale. I really want a double axle but a single would be great as well. Also If anyone has one that they drive is there any special drivers license you need like a cdl or truckers license anything like that thanks. Around Illinois but will travel if its not crazy far.

Search eBay, Craig's list, farmer publications. These big ones were used to haul grain in the Midwest so you might find something. Good luck!

The problem with big jobs(F7,8,9) is that they were industry tools: They were bought to be used and like all things were replaced when greater technology became available.
What this means is that generally they were beaten to death for 20-30 years, then a lucky few were left to sit and deteriorate in fields and woods. A majority were simply scrapped.
Keep looking, but they are not particularly common, especially in good shape. Additionally the parts are difficult to find. But they are great lookin trucks!

Thanks all. I know I'm looking for something very rare conditions isn't as important as price. I'm not looking for something that's been restored and someone wants a lot of money for. I don't have it to give anyways. Plus I don't believe they are worth a lot to begin with. And as far as I've seen I'm looking for one of the rarest ones at that. Because I want the dual axle which was add on by another company I think. And I've only seen one extended cab and it wasn't on a 51-52. That's what I really want but I think I will be lucky to find a normal one.

There was a tandem axle F-7 or F-8 on LaCrosse, WI, or Rochester, MN, Craig's List a few weeks ago. IIRC it was a '52. I don't recall if it was a Truckstell, Thornton, or other conversion. Asking price was $3500. And it was discussed here but I'm having no luck finding that discussion. I don't find a current listing for it on CL, but the seller had another truck for sale too that I discussed with the seller. I have the phone number if you want it. In my state (Maine),if it has air brakes, you need a CDL. However this was an option on the F-7/8's. Mine does not have air brakes. Seeing as you are wanting twin axles, you probably want air brakes. My opinion only.
Good luck there is just a handful of these trucks out there. Parts are tough come by.

Other options for tandem axles with hydraulic brakes is a dual wheel tag axle, and if you scout around you might be lucky enough to find an old (mid '50's to early '60's) twin screw bogie as used on class 7 trucks with hydraulic brakes. To my knowledge International F-1700 and Ford F-7/700 were the only manufacturers that offered this.

Looks good from the picture pilot31. Are you restoring it to factory. Same engine and interior.
I'm been around cars and trucks as my father was a mechanic so it's in my blood. But I don't know much about big trucks (semis). Let alone any laws. So there is a lot I will need to lean. Does anyone know of a detailed drawing or breakdown of the f7 or F8. I'm looking for size like wheelbase and overall for the different frames. As well as cab sizes. Mostly width door to door.
