Intermittent P0351, misfire. Cable to COP??
Hi everyone.
I'm new here and hope somebody can help me...
I have a 2004 5.4l F150 FX4 with around 100.000 miles on it. A few days ago it started to give me the error code:
Camshaft position error Bank A and P0351. So I replaced the cam sensor and that error got fixed.
Still had the P0351 so I replaced the spark plugs because it was time anyway (was a royal pain, 5/8 broke) and I also checked all coils:
pin 1 to secondary: 5.3KOhm
pin 2 to secondary: 5.3KOhm
pin 1 to pin 2: about 1 Ohm
(on all 8, so I assume they are all ok)
Still got P0351 and now also P0357...(Intermittent)
The plugs on the coils and cables all look good, but I wanna make sure that the cables are OK. Does anybody have a diagram or pinout for the PCM, so I can measure from the plug for the PCM to the plug for the coils?
Went to the Ford dealer today and asked one of the senior mechanics for a complete wire diagram and that numb nuts went straight to "Google" and asked me if I know how to write "diagram"... I turned around and walked away...!

What the hell?!?
Now I got rid of the P0351 and all that stuff and now it's giving me P0022 Camshaft position actuator A - Bank 2 timing over-retard...
What's that supposed to mean? I read in a different post that changing the VCT Solenoid did the trick. Can anybody confirm?
BTW... I know that changing spark plugs won't fix a circuit malfunction in the coils, but as I said: around 100.000 miles and due anyway. Since I already climbed on my engine (8" lifted truck) and had all coils removed I thought it was a good idea...

I'm lost... Replaced VCT solenoids, no more error codes, but still runs very rough in idle, makes horrible noise at around 1200 rpm, no power and above 1200 rpm it sounds like it's running on 7 cylinders. I read in a different post that the timing chain might have jumped a tooth. Is there a way to find out without removing the valve covers?

Ok now. Brought it to Ford, they checked it the whole day, couldn't find anything wrong. The suggested an oil change in case some dirt might block the solenoids. They also said rough idle and low idle (around 400 rpm) is because the throttle body is dirty...
So I drove back home and on the way check engine light came on...: P0351 and a new one! P0506 Idle Control System Low RPM...
I don't know what else to do... I'll go ahead and clean MAF and throttlebody now if if that doesn't help, then I'll pull the valve covers to see if the chain jumped. See here:

If anybody else has an idea, please let me know... This post seems more like a monologue. Little disappointed...
