Will I be ok.??
Guys,
I've posted this problem in the 97-03 forum, but wanted to place it here as well in hopes of getting an answer.
Here's the post:
So somehow I looked at an incorrect drawing of firing order on my 4.2(either that or I'm dyslexic)....and aligned the #3 cylinder to TDC instead of the #1 cylinder before removing the camshaft synchronizer gear.
Now luckily I had pulled off the plug wires and was double checking the firing order for the drivers side when I discovered what I had done.
So after thinking about it for awhile I think if I simply align the proper cylinder to TDC and the re-insert the gear as it should be(54 deg. from center-line) I should be ok. I have the alignment tool, so I am ok in that respect.
It seems logical to me that the proper piston be aligned TDC before I insert the new gear and not so necessary to remove the old gear.
I would like to get another opinion to either confirm my suspicions or tell me I'm screwed.....
Anyone?????
