I just finished dropping a 302 out of a 94 mustang cobra into my 84 bronco and the last problem I have is with oil. For some reason, the oil is under very high pressure and when I start up the truck it runs out the dipstick pipe. I am fairly certain that the oil pump still works as the engine ran just fine before I swapped it. I'm really not sure what else might be causing this problem. The oil pan on it right now is undersized and I will be putting a full size pan on as soon as possible but like I said, it ran fine before and I don't think this could be the problem. I would appreciate any suggestions on what I might check as a solution to this strange problem.
well that's new..why do you think the pan is undersize??how much is comeing out??how much oil did you put in??is it blow-by that is pushing the oil?? or is it just over-filled?try draining to oil to see how much you realy have in there ..the oil pump pressurizes just the internal of the motor ,,not the oil pan ..I would dump the oil first and start with 4 quarts and see what happens..let me know what you find out.
I spent a couple more hours last night on it with no luck. It was actually gettin pretty low on oil. I drained it and only got a couple quarts. Putting in only 3 or 4 quarts after gave me the same problem. I am about to pull the oil pan off and put in a regular one and hope that helps.
