For all of you belittleing the people about the storm, they have shut down entire countys. Even the snow plows are not running. If you want to go into a blizzard that is your business but I don't think that qualifies as brave......or manly........

There's been no plow past the house this morning which says the road is drifted shut. Normally that means 6' drifts filling in dips in the road about a mile south of here. Until the wind dies down there won't be mail delivery, or anything else, going on out here. Kevin's gonna need a Snogo on the front of that box truck if he's driving rural roads. Stu

Well, I just spent the last two hours digging out, still have at least an hour to go. My daughter had made a good igloo out of my snow pile.
It looks like the mail doesn't make it in all weather. Of course the city has made it next to impossible to get to the mailbox.

What did you end up with? We got lucky and it stopped somewhere in the 15-17 inch range.

Spent the entire morning, beginning around 7:30, digging out. Took about an hour break once because I was sweating profusely in 15 degree temperatures, not a good thing. Got our front porch, back deck, and driveway cleared then helped the neighbor get the end of his driveway. City appears to have done a great job on the streets, so we should be back to normal operation tomorrow. County roads might be a different thing. As Jim mentioned, most counties around here pulled their plows last night. They couldn't see to plow.

We got probably around 15 inches, lots of drifting so it's hard to tell for sure. Haven't heard official numbers.
I just finished clearing the drive. My 16 year old daughter is making an igloo in the mound closest to the house. I think she is planning on tunneling down the length.

The town has done an excellent job of plowing but once out of town there is no place to go. Between the drifiting and the layer of ice it is serious business if you want to go anyplace. There are 3 to 4 ft drifts from plowing in front of my house and it continues strat on back to my house. I know there is a sidewalk under there someplace... oh well.
