hard starting.

my 95 f-150 has a new fuel pump in it and if i let it sit for a day it is hard starting it will crank for about a minute or two before it tries to start let it sit for a minute to cool the starter off and then crank it again and after three cranks it starts and runs fine. could the pressure be bleeding off or is my timing off? i set the timing for 12 degrees btdc then installed the shorting bar. should i set it at tdc instead? once it runs it runs fine but sucks gas. it sat for a few years so i am thinking gummed up injectors. it is not a daily driver so it is not a big hurry but i am trying to retrain my old brain and learn new stuff.

Not sure if it will tell anything but try turning the key on and let the pump run until it stops and then wait ten seconds or so then try the start. If it is hard to start then repeat the process of turning the key until pump runs about three times. Then try the start. If it works either way someone can tell you want is causing it. This was a typical test on the Cherokee forum and called a poor mans prime. FWIW. Sandy

When was your last tune-Up?
You should measure your fuel pressure.

Let your computer tell you what it knows, check the Codes;
Engines are easier to diagnose over the internet when all the codes are listed, and in order of test.
KOEO - (O) Self-Test Codes =
KOEO - (C) Continuous Codes =
