Need a good vendor to buy delete pipe and sensors from. Also, what tuner seems to be

Guys,

My truck has 106K on it and besides the regen issues it runs fine. It's time to stick a delete pipe on it. Who has the best deal on one? I'm looking to buy a DPF/DOC delete pipe complete with the sensors. That way it's a direct bolt in and nothing needs to be transferred over. And I can swap the old on back in if I ever need to for inspections...

Also, what tuner is the best? Spartan comes to mind first, but I know others are using different brands with good luck. Really all I want is a DPF delete tune and "maybe" some more power. Tow tune or mileage tune???

I don't see the need for a 275 or 300 tune. I don't race the truck. The most it will probably ever pull would be about 12K. I'm happy with the truck the way it is. If I get some more MPG out of the delete pipe and tune then that's good too.

Thanks.

the new spartan doesn't need the exhaust sensors, so you could leave them in the stock pipe. And if you wanted to put it back on they would already be there.

I have a 2008 f250 with the Spartan tuner and CAT/DPF delete. I also have a AFE cold air intake air filter. I run the 275hp tune and get an average of 17mpg. The best i have ever gotten was 23mpg. Not only is the fuel economy great you will have the power to blow the little puds away in their civics and mustangs. You will not believe the power and fuel econ you will get from a Spartan. A+ highly recommended!!!

I have heard so many fuel mileage claims when adding this equipment, from the outrageously high to nothing at all that I just don’t know what to believe. Undoubtedly a lot of it has to do with how heavy your right foot is and fortunately mine is pretty light. Your claim sounds to be in line with what I would expect with the pipe/tuner combo but wanted to ask how long have you experienced your increased mileage? I’m hoping to calculate how long the payoff will be, sure don’t want the payoff to be so far out it doesn’t make sense. Thanks for your input. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Well I have 8,000 miles trouble free. My truck is in the shop right now but its not related to the tuner or dpf delete. The HPFP failed and is a common problem. As you said depends on your foot but I have no problem with 17mpg. I made a trip to KY from Indiana in november. My truck is a cre cab long bed 4x4. I hade a car hauleer trailer with 5 atv's and a bed full of hunting gear. On that trip I made a continuos 16.5 loaded mpg. Coming home and much lighter was 17.3 mpg. My cruise was set at 63 to 65mph. The trick is to keep the turbo from boosting. I went to Indianapolis a few weeks ago with the truck only. No trailer or any weight at all. On that trip I got 22.7 all the way there and back. Now to make myself clear I don't rely on the computer for my averages. I keep track of my fuel mileage with a pencil and paper.

Can you still get an extended warranty on your engine if you add a delete kit and tuner. I'd imagine Ford wouldn't go for it, but are there other warranty companies that would? Thanks.

New to FTE, you guys are awesome.

Truck - 2008 F-350 6.4L, SRW 4x4, extended cab, long bed.

To answer the main questions:

MPG depends on your foot and your truck so getting a consistent # is near impossible. I have a HEAVY foot and consistently get 17-18MPG where I was lucky to get 11-12MPG stock at the same speeds.

The Delete pipe will replace the main "exhaust sensor" although the current tuners do not use the exhaust sensors so you can get rid of them all together. As for price you can contact each vendor and see what their current pricing is.

Once you add any tuning product to your truck your warranty is in question and is handled on a dealer to dealer basis. If you have a good relationship with your dealer then you might get lucky and if not you can kiss your warranty goodbye.

Hope this helps.

On a side note I can almost guarantee that you will not regret deleting your DPF and adding a tuner to your truck. But if you are truly worried about warranty then you should drive it as it is and make the mods once your warranty has done it's job.

And to the OP, John I can tell by your pic that you are a guy that appreciates true muscle. Give Spartan a chance and you will truly understand what these trucks are capable of and the only question you'll have is why you didn't do it sooner. Trust me.
