I'm looking at buying a 1998 ranger 4.0 v-6 should I stay away or is this a good motor? all so is this 4.0 ohv or sohc engine?

 

1998 would be an OHV engine. I have had a couple of 4.0L OHV engines and both went over 100k without any repairs except a thermostat and FEAD drive belts. I prefer it over the 3.0L because the 4.0L has much more torque at lower RPM.
