I have a 2006, F-250 and our FICM has recently shot crap!! Going through the dealer will cost us 860+tax but I have been able to find pre-programed, remanufactured one for half the price. Need advice!!!
Extended warranty doesn't cover and factory warranty ended on Jan 2!!! Go figure!! LOL
I got a remanned one off of fleabay for 460 bucks, but by the time I got it here, I probably paid as much as I would have at the dealer. I think the programming in them is good, I got my truck reflashed after I put it in so I can't be sure, but it ran good before the reflash.
So even a new one through the dealership is re-maned? My main concern is the pre-programed, heard that they don't always work right. Thanks for all your help though, it's still cheaper!!!!
You can have your existing one remaned through rockauto.com at GB remanufacturing. They have a 1 year warranty and you don't have to worry about programming because it is your FICM that is repaired and sent back to you. I think its around $320.
I just replaced mine a couple of months ago. Got in from Northern Auto Parts off the web. About $350 and it came pre-programmed with the latest flashes. So far, working perfectly.
