They were an option begining in 1973.

The 1973-1979 modules and switches are different however. Intermittant wipers were standard on the Ranger XLT untill 1978. After 1978 it was a part of the Convenience Group. Any model could have them, including Base Models, although as an option extra.

Intermittant Wiper switch and Govenors are swappable in the following years.

1980-1983: F-100
1980-1991: F-150/F-350 and U-150 Bronco
1980-1999: F-600/F-900

Motorcraft Part Number:

Switch: SW-1572
Govenor: SW-2259

The Govenor can be marked with the following First four letters or numbers: E0TF / E4TF / E7TF / E9TF

They are plug and play, no wiring required. Just plug it in, screw the ground wire to the dash metal or steering column dash support, and enjoy.

Hope This Helps

I have an '84 F250 as well and would be interested in this... Looks like LMC has the part in stock for less than $30

Yes, that is just the switch itself. You need the Govenor that plugs into the switch, and then the govenor plugs into the trucks wiring.

Yes, that one will work. It say's 87-91 but it will interchange 1980-1991 and work fine.

You need both 47-0668 and 47-0666 to get intermittant wipers. (Using LMC's #s)

You can go to the wrecking yard and get a good unit for a lot less.

81-F-150-Explorer, Thank you for the part #'s and model years in which the wiper switch and governor are interchangeable. This will be extremely helpful to me @ the JY tomorrow!

It's located in the vicinity of the wiper switch. Follow the wires of the wiper switch and if the truck has the intermittant option, you will come to the module.

EDIT: Jimsrebel's picture helps too.
