By no means am I questioning your talents and abilities but do you think there will be a fill up problem with the tank, as in maybe some holes in the baffles to allow for fuel flow thru the tank?
I have never seen the inside of a custom tank and don't know if I'm off base but in comparison to our stock ones they are wide open.
Would hate to hear you had to cut open some purdy looking work on that tank, maybe you could clamp some heavy guage lexan to the top of it to do some experimental fill ups with the tank laying in the back of another truck and see what your dealing with befor you get too far?
Just a thought and may be a crazy one?

Thumbs up

This is a super neat thread, love the build so far!

Bigdaddy, way back several pages he had a single picture that shows the bottom corner of each baffle, they are bevel cut leaving plenty of room forfuel to flow on fillup...

... and the tops have notches to allow air to pass between each compartment easily.

It was easy to miss.

yea see the air gaps but missed the 45's at the bottom , I still now that it would be in the back of my mind would like to see a test flow but maybe he's built or been inside of one before this one

Agree with one thing though thats a hell of a build

Highjack: has anyone put a 7.3 in on of these dents? I hear the ease of the cummings but I have a one owner 95 donor truck with a 7.3 TURBO PSD showing 160k on the clock

Thanks for the compliments guys. Thanks Tbear for answering 76's question for me. The tank should fill fine, I quickly put thos notches in the top of the baffles with the plasma to allow for air to move frome each compartment back to the rear section where the filler/vent will be located. I have done work inside several big truck side mount tanks, and hydraulic tanks and you'd be surprised at the small openings in the baffels. If there does happen to be a flow problem, it just might mean slower filling.

Been making some progress. My fuel tank has all the fittings welded onto it, i just need to finish welding the top on, then it will be time to pressure test it. Welding a fresh tank is always easier than repairing one that has had diesel in it, so i'll keep my fingers crossed that it will pressure test OK... I welded my lower shock mounts onto the rear axle to finish the shock move to the outside of the frame. I also fabricated and installed a removable plate where i originally cut the firewall. This will allow me future "easy access" to the upper bell housing bolts if needed. It will be covered by carpet or vynal flooring anyways. I also painted my firewall that will not be covered by the insulation, and began to install my insulation. One step closer to re-installing the front clip, which is assembled just itching to go back on.... hopefully have some pics by the end of the week...

I messaged you earlier in your thread about the chrome trim that went on the super cab part of this truck. I was just wondering if you had any luck in finding any?

Ya, i've set aside some pieces as i've been collecting chrome and wreching trucks. Do you just need the extended cab (below the rear windows) section?

I've got 1 supercab race track trim piece and then the 2 uppers with the black in them.

No chrome for my trucks - not a fan of the stuff ar all. I like mine clean, simple and cluter free. Not a fan of the shiny stuff on these trucks.

To each their own..... I plan on doing a two tone paint job, so the race track style trim will work fine.
