Production Manager for small electronics company building Pharmaceutical Electrical controls. Previously RF engineering Technician for the same company. Like it but getting tired after 28 years with same company.
Civil Technologist. Working for my second consultant and been here for the last 3 years. Durring the summer I do survey and inspection work, durring the winter I do design/drafting work, on everything from water treatment plants to sewers.
My truck hauls the survey gear for work. After work and on weekends, it pulls my horse trailer, hauls firewood, packs sleds, pulls hay, and will hopefully pack a camper when I can afford it.
Mechanical engineer working with gas turbines (i.e., jet engines) for the past 24 years. I handle technical issues with the production line, investigate component failures, perform crash investigations when needed, and work with OEMs to develop and implement design changes when warranted. Every day is an adventure!
Jack of all trades... I have a BS in Accounting. I've been an accounting supervisor, solid waste supervisor, rubber extrusion supervisor, graphite electrode production engineer, internal auditor, accounting coordinator, product administration manager, Oracle consultant, and now an independent Oracle consultant. Out of all of these jobs, I like my current job best of all.
PS: No wife, no kids... but lots of free time!
Isn't it interesting how different of a field you find a career in than your major was? I have a BS in Business Management myself and I work in the low-voltage communications field. I was just working with a guy yesterday that is a Fire Protection Engineer and he was auditing a new building for the fire alarm as well as the sprinklers. He said that he had a degree in Chemical Engineering. Kind of along the same lines but not at the same time if that makes any sense.
