Ice in Leaf Springs and Hub Locks

50cm snow and -25ish for the last two weeks; terrible driving conditions, truck riding poorly last week or so. Up to -8 today, so took her in for a wand wash. There were huge wedges of ice frozen in between the leaf springs in the rear which took a surprising amount of hot hi pressure water to get rid of. She is parked outside but is plugged in all night and has started well even at -28 so no worries about the engine... should I worry about the springs or should I just get them clean when I can? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks - Freezing my tootsies off in Edmonton - Trill

PS - Hub Locks are fine, just needed to let them run a bit before I could turn them.

Thats pretty cold up there.. super cold does change things a bit. I bring my truck inside after plowing so I really can't help you with the ice issue..Back in the day I was around minus 40 deg weather so I know all about it.

FWIW, I've had good luck with WD 40 de-icing hitches, haven't tried springs but don't think it could hurt them? Keep yur nose outta tha wind!

Just get them cleaned up when you can. The springs will break up the ice as they flex. I have only had issues with ice/snow build up in the front wheels. Makes the wheels way out of ballance and gives a very rough ride.
