close ratio NP435 in a Ford.
Hello,
I've got a 1984 F100 4X4: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ew-member.html
I've put an NP435 in it. It has four forward gears but I really couldn't call it a four speed, as first is basically useless.
I've read that Ch%v and Jeep had NP435s with both the wide and close ratio gears available.
I'm wondering if it's possible to put the gears from a close ratio (from one of the other manufacturer's) into my gearbox.
It wont be an issue that fist isn't so low, as I have low range in the transfer case.
Cheers

I see the Dodge has a taller first and a little closer overall. No idea if it will interchange into the Ford case with the Ford input shaft etc.
The New Process 435 Transmission - Novak Conversions
A T19 from a BB or Diesel Ford would have closer ratios. Not sure if you can find one of those.
That site also has info on them if you go back to the trans info bar.
Good luck with it.
