Fuel Pressure - Fluctuations?

I finally got around to installing my Isspro EV2 gauges: fuel pressure, EGT, and rear axle temp. Love em!! I had installed fuel pressure regulator upgrade kit back in the summer and my fuel pressure is around 62 psi, so I'm very happy about that, too.

My question is this: the fuel pressure fluctuates up and down 1 or 2 psi once or twice a second. Is this fluctuation typical? If not, could it be from air in my sensor plumbing, or is something else wrong?

could be from wiring, could be normal, could be the sender. olny way to tell is going to be to hook up a manuel gauge.

Thanks Cheezit. I dont have a manual gauge. When you test with a manual gauge what do you usually see: fluctuations or steady pressure?

should be pretty flat and stationary. I have seen a small 1-2 psi bounce with eletric gauges before. even a high quality dvom will do it some times.
also check your ground for the gauge/sender. should be less then .3ohms

I installed my Autometer fuel pressure guage a few months back and have a 0.5-1 psi fluctuation at idle. Under power it's rock sold steady. I'll check out my ground thanks to Cheezit's post and I'll also attempt to bleed the line to the sender just in case there's some trapped air in the line. Should have already done it but been too lazy of late.

Thanks, I'll double check the wiring and see if that's it.

Well, I double checked all wiring connections and no issues there. Maybe it's a little air between my sender and the fuel regulator port. I guess I'll try to bleed the sender fitting and see if that makes any difference.

1 or 2 psi @ 62 psi, you have nothing to worry about. It may bug you but your way over the 45 psi min. Digitals are awesome but sometimes not as stable as analog.

Yeah, I'm very pleased about getting 60 to 65 psi, and I don't mind the fluctuations so long as they aren't due to an imminent problem. Do you think it's just the EV2 gauge being more sensitive, CJ? If I knew for sure it was the gauge then I wouldn't even worry about it. Just want to be sure it isn't due to the fuel pump getting ready to go out or something. Probably not, but thought I'd run it by the forum to see if anyone else has seen this with their EV2 fuel gauge.
