I like the wheels too.........same as whats on mine!!!! Except I painted the rough parts of the centers satin black. I always liked em that way. Ive had the same set of wheels on 3 dents and 2 Jeeps. Ive had the wheels since the mid 80's. They are due for a good polishing again. Ive got them off the truck for the winter so maybe I'll get em done before spring..........

If you locate a earlier outer grill like a 77 (round headlights) you will need to change the headlight buckets also (78-79 are square, 73-77 are round).

Just thought I would give you a heads up before you get just the outer grill and the inserts. Also you will have a double FORD (1 on the hood and 1 on the grill) FYI.

Just noticed you are from Mo, where are you located in the state? Stop on by the regional/state forums- look at the bottom of the forum list.

I've already done this swap before. The last time was on my wheelin' truck, so I took the letters out of the grill so I didn't have to do body work. This time, I'll shave the hood since I'm going to paint it anyway. Thanks anyway for the heads up. Good lookin' out for a fellow dent.

Wow! Dang near a year since I updated this thread. Well, quite a bit has happened since then. The F-100 is GONE! I now own an F150 4X4. (same truck though)

A little background story. I wanted a 4wd really bad, but didn't want to pay for one. They still bring a good amount around here if they're in decent shape. My friend Rich, (whom I met on here) had a chassis and body. Bob, (another FTE friend) needed the body. A deal was struck and the work began.

Here's the chassis in the shop getting stripped of grime and grease.

Mind you, this is a daily driver so it won't be perfect, but I want it to be nice. ...and safe. This is after a coat of paint .

Two solid days of work with a shop crane got the body switched over from the F-100 2wd frame, to the F-150 4wd frame. I did a 3" body lift while I was at it.

Work to the chassis included:

all four ball joints
new steering gear box (Actually SEVERAL)
new track arm bushings
new radius arm bushings
new gas tank
new fuel lines
new brake hoses (all of them)
new wheel cylinders
new brakes front and rear
new fuel pump
new valve cover gasket
new power steering pump (9 of them to be exact. I'll explain in a bit)

I also put the '77 grill in it since I like that so much better. (Thanks again, Rich!)

...just the way it should be. Three pedals and two shifters!

A friend of mine had a screamin' deal on a set of wheels I just couldn't pass up.

I found a great deal on four new tires too. 33X12.50X15's $100 each for a set of four. ($400 for the set) Here's a shot with the new wheels and tires on it.

Time to take care of the rust. Again, Rich hooked me up with the parts. (This guy has been awesome!) I cut out the rusty panels and butt-welded the patches in.

I haven't gotten to the paint stage of the game and I'm driving this everyday. I put a quick coat of mud on it and rattle canned it until I fine tune it before I do the final paint job. This side of the bed was caved in about 4" when I bought the truck. I never showed it in pictures because it was ugly!

On to the driver's side for the rust. Again, Cut the rusty part out and butt-welded the new piece in.

Another quick coat of mud and a spray bomb coat to seal it.

The bottom of the driver's fender was curled under from a flat tire, so while I was at it, I pulled that out too.

Now some background on the steering fiasco.......

Ever since I put this truck on a 4wd chassis, I never had power steering. NINE pumps, FOUR steering gear boxes and FOUR sets of hoses and this thing WOULD NOT steer!

In desperation, I grabbed an old Chevy power steering pump and fabbed up some brackets to mount it to my 300 six. ...IT WORKED!!! ....for two weeks.

Tonight my steering went out as I was backing in a trailer in to my driveway. What a FANTASTIC time for the power steering to go out. I have officially given up. NOBODY can tell me something I haven't tried, NOBODY has ever heard of my troubles with this. I've been turning wrenches for over 30 years and I have NEVER had a problem with power steering like I have with this truck. ....I'm done. I'm gonna put a manual box on it.

Rich also hooked me up with a factory push bar for the front of it. This picture isn't that great, but you get the idea.

That's about where I am today. They'll be more coming. I plan on having it paint by the time the 4X4 Jamboree rolls around in the spring. I think I decided to either go back to the original color, or the factory dark brown metallic.

Oh wait! One more thing Rich hooked me up with. The interior pieces for my truck. He had real nice door panels, sun visors, and gauge bezel. His interior pieces are what make me want to do the dark brown metallic. I think it would look sharp!

Over all, even with the power steering issues, ...I love this truck. She's been a great truck (knock on wood) and always did what I asked of her.

As always Alan looking good, ya need that brown head liner from the rearender bronco. and the split folding front seat its the same color scheme as the rest of the Bronco stuff.

How about full hydro steering set up? I happen to have a jeep p/s unit tapped with lines already hooked to a slave cylinder.

If I do not need it on the bronco its all yours.

I'm gonna find a manual box first. I don't think steering effort will be all that bad. I may get a hold of you if it's awful. ....but really, how bad could it be after driving the truck with bad power steering for 6 months?
