Swapping the cluster to gain a tachometer

My truck is a '94 with the electronic automatic transmission.

Is it true that I have to use a cluster from a 94-95 model?

I may have a cluster available with a tach.

Thanks in advance!

Yes that is all true. It would be plug and play.
You can also use your old Speedometer head and PSOM so your mileage, calibration and changes left will be the same.

You can also do it with other years but it will not be plug and play.
