351w swap
I have an 85 bronco with the 300 6, 4spd. manual with granny low. I want to swap in a 351w 4b. It has to be carbed, because I like the thought of keeping it computer-free. Can you tell me what I need to do to pull this swap off? Any tips and tricks? Do I need a new bellhousing, flywheel, radiator, anything else? LAst thing, does anybody have an engine? Thank you for your help with this. jeff

the tranny and bellhousing do not need to change. im not shure if you will need a new radiator or not. if it is a two core radiator then i wouldent worry about it. you will definatly need to change the motor mounts and exsast. then it should be just minor stuff after that. if im wrong sombody correct me!

Hi Jeff, your first problem will be finding an complete engine, ie with brackets and working parts. Because of age, and also my preference to rebuild anything that I am going to install. You need to consider a complete rebuild, new everything. and a crank polish/exchange.
As for tips and tricks. It should be a straight install, with the correct engine mounts, radiator oses, mod the carb connections and various lenght differences in plumbing.

You may also have to get a new wiring harness for the ignition system. I have an 84 with the same setup. Since I have a 1 barrel feedback carb, I will have to change the wiring harness. If this is the carb you have, you will need to do the same as well as remove the small computer and replace it with an ignition box. You will also have to get a new core support, or cut out a bigger opening in your existing one.
