RHD IDLER BOX DELETE

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone had ever deleted to idler steering box and run the steering arm from the right box to the left knuckle. It is an Australian delivered 2004 7.3l F250 super duty. I need to remove it to make room for new brackets and so on. Thanks heaps

Hi Jason. Pretty quiet around here.

I'm just curious what you are aiming for?

The idler steering box is the left hand box?

I'll have to have a climb under mine to get an idea of where you want to run the steering arm.

What brackets are you installing?

Are you local?

Sorry for all the questions, cheers Wayne.

Hey buddy, yeah she is like a host town hahaha. So I would like to get rid of the L/H Drive steering box. Okay so the full story is a bought a wrecked f250 and now I'm putting a HJ47 landcruiser body on it. Now to get everything to line up again I had to move the axle forward 100mm in doing this the panhard rod mounts don't line up and I have clearance issues in the engine cross member...... So I need to delete that box to make a new mount and mod the crossmember. Yes it is a massive can of worms lol.

Umm car is in Geebung QLD

Cheers Jason

Sounds like a hell of a job!

What body on the effy? Might be interested if the price is right when you are done with it.

And either way, good luck with it.

Cheers.

The body was burnt out and completely ruined, plus it's already gone to the scrapper

No sweat, are you going to have a build thread somewhere? I wouldn't mind watching it.

there is a mob down in Melb. that supplies a kit to run straight from the drivers side steering box. New drag link, panhard bar and bracket that fits on the front diff. Nkelly is running it. Send him a PM

Thanks for that. Benefit? Maybe take some slack out of the steering overall?
Mine is a bit of a bus, although the mob I bought it off (Ford) are fitting a new draglink and Ford hubs this week so hopefully tightens it up a bit.

Cheers Wayne

Okay sweet cheers for the info. Yeah it needs to be moved so I use the space where that second box is to make a new panhard rod mount. I need to make a new mount as I have moved the front axle 100mm forward.

Cheers Jason

it would most probably be the steering box not the dumby box. They could do with a rebuild. check out Blue's thread

this kit changes the panhard bar to the other side. As I said it mounts of the front diff and is fixed to the frame under the drivers side

What Brian said.

This is the mob: Home | Rocket Sports Trucks

Your build would be interesting - It's a narrow body to put on a wide frame and axles!
