Mustang II on a 56. Pictures included.

This will be the beginning of the documentation of my conversion.

I started by draining the coolant and pulling the radiator.

Next was removing the bolts from each side of the fender to cab connections and the radiator support bolts. Once those were out I disconnected any wires going to the fender wells and clipped the headlight and parking light loom to splice back later. Then it was time to remove the entire front end in one piece.

Next was the front axle. 4 bolts later I was dragging it out from under the truck.

Anyone interested in a front axle for a 56 with good kingpins, nice brakes and drums, good hoses and good wheel cylinders? If so, PM me.

Not bad for an afternoon's work.

Next weekend I borrow a cherry picker to pull the engine and trans. Then the fun begins.

Didn't have to take it off to get to the frame. One less thing to worry about later.

Basically, I am too lazy to remove it if I don't have to.

Actually, the hood opened more far enough. There are only 2 bolts on each side that you get to from under the hood.

Then there are 4 here. The top three are from inside the cab and the bottom one is from inside the fenderwell.

Next are these three from inside the fenderwell.

Repeat on the passengers side then remove these 4 from the radiator support.

After that all you need is a helper to lift the fenders and grille off as a unit.

The BACAGrizz Special:
Heidt's rod shop crossmember
Heidt's power rack with 4" extension kit..
Ride Tech upper and lower strong arm tubular control arms.
Ride Tech Shockwave 1000 master series, single adjustable, with internal sensors.
Wilwood Pro Spindles, stock ride height.
Wilwood Forged Dyna Lite disc brake with hub for pro spindle. (Front calipers are matched to existing rear brakes incorporating a little bit of bias to the brakes before even installing a proportioning valve.)

We'll see how it works out. On paper, it should all bolt together without issues and be perfect for my truck.

Yes, I had. I also considered the Volare, Heidt's super ride II, Fatman, TCI, mid 80's Ford station wagon, Ford Granada, Camaro front clip, Nova front clip, Jaguar front and rear, etc... After three years of research and deliberation I came to the conclusion of the parts previously listed.

I've owned this truck since 1988. I have wanted to do something to the front end for almost that long too.
