How many have done the door seal mod?

Any benefits besides a more better feel when shutting the doors? My 11' has a creaking/twisting sound on the driver's door when going over bumps or driving on dirt roads. It is driving me absolutely nuts. It doesn't sound like a rattle, more like tweaking when the truck is absorbing bumps. Besides this noise and the rattle behind the radio in the dash, its my only complaint. I'd rather have a tail gate rattle then the door creaking. I plan on doing the door seal mod regardless, just gotta get around to ordering the stuff. You all think it will help my door issue?

Tac, I did the mod the day after I brought my truck home so I can't confirm that it will help with your issue. I do know that it won't hurt.
I do not have the door noises you speak of when driving over rough roads. I hear some flexing from the truck bed but that's it.
Good luck!

You got some noises in the door also?

I've been scanning the net, can't seem to find the tubing in the dimensions I want. 3/8 OD, 1/8 ID and 1/16 wall thickness.

I have not done this mod, yet. But after owning Fords over the last 20 years, it is inevitable.

Hey thanks! I saw that during my search, but it states it is random lengths in the 50' roll. How did the random lengths work for you?

Worked great. The random lengths didn't factor in the installation. The joints were held together with tape similiar to electrical tape to form the 50' roll. I think there might have been 2 or 3 joints. FYI, for my crew cab I used 48' or so.
Follow the advice in Epicowlick's video regarding lubricating the seal generously and it will be a breeze.
Easy and worthwhile mod!

Glad to see others are happy with the mod. This 2011 is my 4th Ford that I have done it on. The other three (Expedition, Excursion and SportTrac) required the mod because of a lot of door rattling. My 2011 was not rattling yet, per se, but given my experience with the other models, I just did is as a preventative measure. It does provide immediate benefit in protecting one's ears from the kids slamming the doors and I'm pretty sure it has helped with noise a bit. Bottom line, if you don't do it now, you will eventually. It's just that the longer you wait, the more you'll appreciate it. Those door seals take a beating over time and anything you can do to help them out provides real benefit.

Well, there is a creaking sound when the truck is torqued on a funny hill or something and I understand that and don't get all worked up over it.

What I do have is a lot of wind noise at 70+ MPH, and I run interstates a LOT. This is my primary reason for doing this some day.

I have to do this in the very near future. Getting lots of wind noise through the doors on the highway.

On page one of this forum open the third link down from the top of the page: Titled Tech Folder. Search thru there towards the end of the list. Lots of helpful things in there.
