1964 Bed Quiz
We all know that the 1964 is the ******* stepchild with all kinds of anomalies.
Review this photo of the 64 bed i have in my yard for the AZ rat rod build and pick out the discrepancies.
Winner shall be the poster who gets all the anomalies. P.S the floor missing and rust holes are not one......

There's a couple other things different between 64 &65-6 not shown in pics. Wheel houses have 2 indention's going vertical to bed floor. 65-6 indention's stop about 2" below top curve with a horizonal indention I guess for a tire rub at the bottom, and the 64 tailgate don't have the 2 bolts run from the inside to the outside handle assembly. Think it might have been a running change?

also looks like the bedsides are rolled different near bottom edge. One has radius other is more of a bend. Really looks like one side had an updated side panel... along with bracing

The first thing I noticed is the ( bed sills) that run across the botton of the floors differ , the bed that is up close in the pic it has ( floor sills ) that are " Kinda " made like the ones
on a ( Step bed ) , the bed in the back ground are ( Boxed ) as normal !

As i looked at this bed with the owner and i scratched my head as to just what is going on. I have found that the 64s have these oddities as the bolt inserts in the passenger side of my 64 are coarse thread and the drivers are fine thread for the door hinge mountings.
There are four braces on the passenger side.
There are three on the drivers side.
Of the seven braces only the bottom two at the front of the bed match and the one at the top drivers side.
The two in the drivers well match in profile reverse of themselves.
The second brace in the drivers well does not match the passenger second brace and the third brace does not even come close and it is mounted in a different location and of not at an angle like the passenger side.
There is no top brace on the drivers side or any indication of one being there as there are no old spot welds or distortions.
The curve at the rear passenger side is from old damage to the bottom of the end cap.
The top rail is bent slightly and the silver line is a license plate bracket
My 66 short bed i have on the 64 "Christine" matches the drivers side of the bed and has three braces one in front and two in the wells.
The bottom rail or bed front is rusty and has been modified with steel guides. This bed was on a municipal truck from Wikenburg AZ and had a hoist setup.
Anyone else out there with a 64 bed please take some pictures and post them to the thread.

Here is a pic of mine. This bed came off of a 64. The front braces were gone so I put a piece of angle iron in to replace it. It had saddle tanks in the truck that it came from. The rear floor support has been modified to give clearance for the fuel tank. Other than that as far as I know it is all original.
I will probably see you this weekend.
