Sirius End of trial period & cheap plan

I thought I would throw this out... My initial "trial Period" expired Jan 1. I was sent numerous e-mails & offers to subscribe monthly ($12.95/month), 2 & 3 yr "deals" - roughly $10/ month before taxes.

I decided to let it expire to see if they threw a better deal at me once they thought that I really wasn't interested. It worked fairly well. They sent me an e-mail today. No activation fee & $6.42/ mo for a 1 year term - $77 + taxes - etc about $91 (7.60 per month)..

So you guys with new trucks & your "free" time is fixin' to expire - you might keep that in mind...

BTW - Yes - I signed up...

Another thing to keep in mind, if you buy the "lifetime" package, you can not continue the travellink. Still don't understand that one but that's what they say. If you buy a shorter term package (at a higher price than lifetime) you can still get travellink. After 3 hours on the phone, They still can explain why. So no I am travelinkless.

Travel Link is probably a service that is provided by a third party company through Sirius. They may not want to take the chance of that company going out of business or jacking the prices up on them.
Can you get the lifetime Sirius and add the travel link as a 1-3 year deal or was it just no travel link if you get the lifetime Sirius? I really should have done the Sirius lifetime deal years ago, but I will most likely do it this time.

While it's nice to have the factory stereo integration, I'll be passing on the extension. Maybe if there was more info available on the display I'd re-up. I hate that all you get is the channel name. No program info or multiple channels on the screen while navigating.

Besides, I already have one subscription. It's nice to be able to move my Starmate from vehicle to vehicle too.

Also a problem with the lifetime with sirius is that they say that is non-transferable. So if you happen to buy a different truck say in 20 years you will have to buy the lifetime again. But with that said i believe the lifetime deal to cost less that 20 years of buying the 2 or 3 year plans.

I received a letter from Ford Canada today reminding me that my six-month trial is up in March, and offering an extension for three months at $5/month. Has anyone else had such an offer? At their regular rates I have no intention of renewing, so they'll have to offer me pretty close to $5/month on an on-going basis to get my attention.

My 6 month memberships should expire in a couple of weeks. I've not heard anything from sirrus since I bought the truck. Not One piece of mail or an email. So I guess I see what show up in the next week.

I really don't use that feature. So I doubt I will renew unless it is really cheap.
the Sync system in the truck offers so much entertainment, with the AM/FM/HD radios, the jukebox and MP3 players that I just havent seen the need to use Sirrus.

More than the radio, I down load books and podcast onto my iphone and via the bluetooth listen to that media.

Play the game. All you need to do is threaten to cancel. They will almost always do something for you.

They don't do monthly deals, only yearly or lifetime. Tell them you want 24 months minimum a $5 per. When they say no, say thanks anyway. If they say yes, all the better.

They may counter with 12 months at $5 per. Then you're in for another year at least.

I called to cancel my sub altogether in September. The price went up to $15.95 from $12.95 when I started. After telling me they couldn't even get me back to $12.95, I said cancel me. The woman said I should speak to an "account specialist" before finalizing my decision. She transferred me I ended up at $6 a month for the next 12. I have to call in this September to "renegotiate" another deal. I know one thing for sure, I'll never pay anywhere near full price again.

Great question. If they are truly spearate or sub contracted they should have the ability to work independently.

Just reinstated it on my wife's car, don't pay more than $4 per month. There have been offering us 5 months for $20 for a few months now. Just have to remember to cancel or it goes back to normal price.

Those guys are ruthless... I got so many calls and emails I almost canceled because of that. They would call from early till late at night, even after I said I know of the upcoming expiration, and advised I was deciding.. I ended up with $6 plus $4 mo for travel link..

Thats interesting! Mine just went out at the 1st of the year and just looked at the rates for Sirius. I have XM MP3i and could move it into the F250. But I like the factory radio but not the subscription price. I will try your method!!

I have had a lifetime plan for about 6 years or so, and it allows for 3 recievers at a cost of $75 each time you change. This would be my first change, will be interested to see what transpires when I call.

Boats,
I signed up for lifetime and 5 year travel link because they said that was the only way they offer travel link (no life time travel link) with a life time rate. Two days later, my travel link stopped working (on the free trail end date). After a full 3 hours and 5 differant service reps, it was finally figured out that since our new trucks only have one ESN number, they can not offer travelink to life time audio subscribers with only one ESN. They said previous model year vehicles had a seperate esn for audion and travel link which they could offer life time & TL.
The solution offered was switch from lifetime audio to a 3 ($60 more than my new life time rate) or 5 year plan and I can get travel link...

I guess they can not disconnect one or the other with only one esn so you can't get both... I say BS! fix your system!

Got my refund for 5 years of travel link without asking..

I just want the travel link.

From my previous dealings with XM, if I did do a subscription, with anyone, I would never do it with a credit card.
