Hey guys. Anyone know who might be able to help me trouble shoot a squeak (sounds like a belt squeal but shouldn't be, because I replaced it 4k miles ago). I live in North/West Fort Worth, Halset area. I can't seem to narrow down where the sound is coming from. It started off very intermittent (the reason I replaced the belt) but lately has gotten worse. Now it is about every time we use the truck, and it is getting louder. I tried using a "stick" to listen to the pulleys and no luck on finding the squeal. Hopefully someone with 6.0L experience can listen to the sound as give me an idea what needs attention. to the 6.0L
Also who/which shop is the best place to take the 6.0L for big issues?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys! I talked to Cheezit and what a nice guy. Very knowledgeable also! I think I know what is needed to be done now. Now I just need the time to do it.
Sorry I forgot to update this thread.
I replaced the idler pulleys and the tensioner and it did nothing to the squeak. So I tried putting a bar of soap on the grove side of the belt and the squeak went away. So I ended up talking with O'Reilly auto parts who I bought the belt from and they said it had a warranty. I took the belt back and got a new one. The one I returned was a Gates Micro-V, the one they had to replace it was a Gates Micro-V AT. I haven't had any squeaks yet but I have only put on about 800 miles so far. I have a thread in the "6.0" forum. Thanks for asking.

That sucks. You might need to change the belt again. I can't really see it making any difference, but you might try going with a Motorcraft. check all the pully's while you have the belt out for play and to be sure they turn good.
It is so disappointing! I tried the soap thing again and the squeak goes away (temporally) so I don't know what to do. I have a Grooved idler pulley that I haven't put on yet. I guess I will change it first to rule out the last pulley I can change.
This may not be it, but I have seen bent vacuum pump mounts that can cause some alignment issues. What happens when its squeaking and you engage the AC and disengage it?
Hey Moe.
I bought and installed a GatorBack belt about a week or so ago. So I will know more in about 4 weeks or so. The Gates belt started to squeal about 6 weeks after install. But so far so good with the Gatorback! Another thing I would like to note is that the Gates belt had no signs (that I could tell) of frying or glazing. Someone else in another thread brought up to look for frying and glazing on the old belt.
Thanks for asking and ALL your help!!!!!!!! I really appreciate it.

so far as glazing goes you manynot be able to see it. best way is to active command fanvar# to 100% and run the enigne up to about 3k rpm.
was the belt the same soze as the otherone? still trining to sort that one out?
The Excursion Belt is JK8-1261-A
The F-250 belt is JK8-1267-A
So the F-250 is a different belt than the Excursion and I don't know why.
Gatorback Excursion: 4081252 (125.2 inches)
Gatorback F-250: 4081261 (126.1 inches)
I went with the Gatorback for the Excursion. And when measured up to the Gates I had it was the same length (125.3 inches)
I have had the it up to 3K rpms so far and no squeal yet with the gatorback.
