Crown vic frame is 36" wide at front axle. 1953-60 F100s frames are 34" wide at front axle. What do you have to do to make the CV IFS fit the narrower F100 frame?

From the F100s I have seen, they pretty much bolt in. If you want to go thru the extra work, others have been narrowing the CV IFS up to 5 inches and narrowing the frame as well to have a better wheel selection.

I have an F1 which is narrower than the F100s and I took out about 2.75" of the cradle, welded the cradle and Im in the process of narrowing the rack. The only frame mod was to cut the bottom of the rail to level it out to retain the flat surface so the CV IFS retains the proper caster angle.

mustangmike,

I am really interested in using a CV on my 1952 F-1, I see you have a thread for your build and I will follow.

Like you I will have to go with a larger diameter rim to clear things. Your frame looks real nice.
You mention modular spindles to gain 1.5 inches.. what exactly did you use? Part number or where can I find them?
I'm in the process of ordering wheels from Detroit steel but they need at least 4.5 clearance from hub to fender. Im a bit shy of 4 inches right now with the cv ifs on my 54 f100

The 1 1/2" should have been corrected to say 1 1/8" per side. I bought them from CPP and not to be confused I built my panel on a Chev frame and had to also used narrowed control arms. Sometimes when you jump in the fire you have to look for your own bucket of water, lol

If you assembled her back together, what was your static ride height? I spoke to a guy, that steered me away from using the CV IFS for my build. SYT
