2011 F-350 - Amp steps and Husky Liner pics

Got the Amp steps and light kit installed this past weekend so I snapped some pics of those, along with the Husky Liner WeatherBeater floor mats. I didn't think to take any of the outside of the truck with the steps retracted because there isn't much to see. The part number for the 2011's is 75134-01A. All cab configurations are the same part number as you cut the boards down for the reg/ext cab's.

Some advice for anyone tackling the Amp install themselves:

1. Get someone to help install the steps at the very least. Trying to "balance" the step on something (I used a bucket and a brick) while bolting it to the arms was a pain. Having someone there to help hold them would've been ideal. Why I didn't ask one my kids to help, I don't know...

2. Ditch the wire connectors that come with the Amp steps. The wires to tap into the doors are so small that they failed to get a good connection. I ended up using the connectors that crimp inline with the wire. Once I switched them all out, they worked.

3. The wires to tap into the doors are all on the front passenger side and are fairly easy to tap into, the instuctions outline which color to look for, not to mention Amp tried to match the wire colors to the factory wires. Finding the correct wire was somewhat tough for the dk green w/ purple stripe as there were 4 of them. Just keep trying... Also, the white wire is not in the same bunch as the rest. You have to chase it a bit further up to the kick panel. I cut away some of the wire wrapping (it's a cloth material) and found a solid white there to tap into. Turned out to be the correct one. Be careful cutting the material away though as there are wires that are wrapped up underneath the cloth wrapping that are made of the same material, if that makes sense. One of these days I'll take the passenger side apart again and take a couple of pictures to show where exactly I ran everything, just ran out of time.

4. In the first step of the install guide, the picture in the install guide does not match with what they recommend for placement of the drivers side motor. It goes in the second set of holes, not the third like it reflects in the install guide picture.

Anyone has any questions, let me know.

Thanks Byram. The only drilling required was a 9/32 hole on the pinch welds under each door for the light kits. Everything else bolts right up.

Great job. Love the look of the steps. i'm glad to see that they don't extend back past the rear cab door into the bed area. That was my concern about them. I plan on buying a truck camper and the camper frame mounted tie downs would interfere with the steps if they were past the cab of the truck. Do they seem sturdy? Do you think that they will hold up under regular use?

The mats are really nice to. My Weathertech window visors came in today but it's raining so will try to get them installed this weekend.. Don't like how when you have the window cracked that water drips directlly onto the mirror/window controls.

Yeah, my wife wasn't thrilled either. I got 'em through Amazon and feel I got a pretty decent deal. Amp was having a promotion for a free bed step or bed extender (worth a couple hundred) so I got that goin' for me....which is nice.

Thanks Blake. You can adjust the steps however far forward or backwards you want them, not to mention you can pull the end caps off and cut them down if needed. They seem real sturdy, I'm 6-3 225# and they move the truck when I step up/down on them, they don't flex at all. They came with a 5 year 60k mile warranty so we'll see how they handle the PA winters.

I bought the mats before the truck even came in so when I got the call that the truck had arrived and was ready, I threw them in the Exploder that I was trading and put 'em in at the dealer. I like the window visors but with the Ziebart rust treatment and dvd headrests still on deck, my wife has put a freeze on my spending. lol..

$900-$1200 from what I've seen. Got mine off of Amazon I believe around $975 or so, free shipping too.

When you consider how much Ford charges for their cab steps (basically two sticks of bent tubing), having a step at a more comfortable height for entering the cab is well worth the extra money. Besides that, they retract out of the way when you're not using them. Your wife should like them too..especially if she is not as tall as you.

Thanks!

I didn't want the chrome package (which came with steps) so when the truck came, the wife asked where the steps were. I said, I'm getting different ones to which I got the response.

I'm 6-3 and it was still difficult getting in and out of without them, and I'm used to climbing in/out of my old truck that had a 6.5" lift and 37's on it.
