Is there any information screen available, short of hooking up to the OBD, that will let you know what software or latest flash is powering your truck?

Do you mean the 10B17 (400HP/800 ft lbs toruqe) flash?
If so, then yes.
When you start the engine and put the tranny into drive, push the + button on your column shifter.
This will activate the gear display screen (6-1).
The next time you shut down, start up and put into drive, the numbers should reappear automatically.

OK. What should I do if this is not what happens? I bought my truck at the end of September. The gear display resets when I cycle the ignition. Should I ask the dealer to update my computer?
Give your dealer a call to schedule the update.
They can plug it into their IDS and verify if your truck has it or not.
Since you have to turn on your gear display each time you put it in drive, I feel it's safe to say you don't have the 400/800 offered to all Job1 customers.
Even if this truck was on the lot (not an order) the dealer should have had this updated before selling it to you.
I had my update installed the first or second week in September.
I have a job 1 build, it's been 400/800 flashed and I have to hit the +/- buttom each time if I want the current gear displayd on info?
Each time you start the engine and put it in drive you have to activate the 6-1 gear display?
That isn't right. After setting it to on with the 10B17, it will remain on with future shifts to drive. It was even in the documentation (tech pdf).
(I have attached those documents.)
I would have your dealer check the version of your PCM.
Or in this case, maybe a different dealer?
thanks for the info ....... you know, when they did my flash, the PCM crashed and had to be replaced.......... I'll have to hit them with this info next visit, thnx again
Is there a newer flash update than the 400/800 10B17 flash update? My gear indicators stays on, 10B17 installed, but the shifting is weird when cold, skipping/torque converter lockup between 2/3 when unloaded and cool.
I would like to get a version 2 of 10b17, is there one?
