Which lift kit for 2009 FX4 Cabelas truck?

I want to lift my truck about 3 or 4 inches. Should I spend the money to get a true 4-link kit or is it overkill. I definitely do not want the kit with coil spacers only. Will the rough country kit with new coils and drop brackets for the front end equipment be good enough? I have read somewhere that axle wrap on tuned trucks can be a problem and that some of these trucks exhibit a hopping problem. I am also planning on getting the Spartan Tuner so I don't want to put a lift on it that will not be strong enough after the tuner is installed. Will the 4-link kit eliminate the hopping and axle wrap? I do not want to spend money on overkill but do not want problems later either. I definitely do not want to install junk on a $60,000 truck Thanks in advance for any help that someone who has been there and done that can give me. Anyone that I talk to that installs these kits just says that the one they sell is the best, imagine that!

Custom kit from 3 different companies

I think I have it figured out. I am going with the 3 inch kit from rough country. Kit cost is 500.00. I am going to get the shock upgrade and sterring stabilizer from them also, another 210.00 The radius arm drop brackets in this kit should take care of the camber angles. But I am not going to use the stacked blocks on the rear. I am going to get 5 inch one piece blocks and u-bolts from Icon, another 234.00. This should put me level. I am also not going to use the trac bar drop bracket from rough country. Instead, I am going to get a new adjustable trac bar from Icon for 375.00. This should re-center the front axle nicely. Then to take care of any axle wrap I am going to get the tourque max traction bars from Superlift for 600.00. This brings the total to a little over 1900.00. I think this should make a really nice kit for under 2000.00.

What do ya'll think? I have never lifted any of my trucks before and would like to get it right!!!

Check out One Up Offroad for the rear lift of your truck you won't be dissapointed. I have their 8" traction blocks on the rear of my 05 F350 and love them.

Heres a link http://www.oneupoffroad.com/

I think for $1900, you could buy a hell of a nice lift! I dont understand why you are piecing other brands together to make 1! Did you look at SkyJacker, Superlift, Pro Comp, RCD, Donahue racing, Rancho...... For 1900$ you can pretty much get a top of the line lift from any manufactuer! I sure wouldnt put anything from Rough Country or Tough Country on my truck, especially after installin a couple R C lifts on F350's They are cheap for a reason, and Stacked blocks is a dangerous reason!

I have to disagree with you. Piecing together a lift is how to get exactly what you want. I started with a pro comp 6" lift. I currently have 8" Rough Country front coils and 8" One Up Offroad rear traction blocks. Adjustable track bar from topgun customs soon to be replaced with MC Motorsports adjustable trackbar. Out of the box is great if you want to go that route. However if you piece it together you can get it excatly the way you want it the first time.

I believe with research, one of the companies would be willing to make one of there standard kits to your liking, without having to remember all the parts of liftenstein you have! Just My opinion! I understand what you are saying though.

I can't disagree with you there most of them would probaly tweak their kit to a persons liking.

Well after much much more research I have changed my mind again. Pure Performance is coming out with a 2.5 inch system in the spring that you can get with a 4-link system with a track bar in the front instead of the brackets and springs in the back instead of blocks. Plus 2.5 inches was all I really wanted to lift in the first place. I just was not finding any quality kits until 4 inches and up. That is why I was trying to piece together a kit starting with the 3 inch kit from rough country. I was leaning toward either a 4 inch from skyjacker or the 4.5 inch kit from Icon for the quality reasons. Then I was told about a 4 inch kit from Pure Performance then the fact that they had a 2.5 inch kit also!! YAYYY!!! Finally a real quality kit at 2.5 inches. I do believe though that I will get som Bilstein 5100 shocks for it instead of spending another 650.00 for shocks from Pure Performance. Here is a link to the kit.

Take a look at Bilstein's new 5160 series.
5160 Series - Stock Mount Remote Reservoir
When I replace my 5100's I'm using these.
