What should you do with it? 445" stroker, shortbox, and mini-tubs! It's easy when it's not my money!

Seriously though, I wouldn't be too afraid of ruining the value of the truck by modifying it if that is your main concern.

It's up to you if you want to shorten it up, but I've heard/seen worse done to original vehicles.

For comparison, I bought mine with 26,000 miles, original down to the tires, and without a speck of rust anywhere. Even after some updates to make it a better driver (and saving everything original "just in case") I still don't think it's worth anything close to the prices you have in your original post.

My truck for reference:

I say do what you want with it and enjoy it. If you really want a short bed either build this one into a short bed or sell and buy the truck you want. My $0.02.

Oh, and pics of the tube chassis '64 Falcon too!

I guess the question is, what is it worth now? As in running, I'm close enough to that point. It's still a one owner as I haven't finished placing the title in my name. The booster and bracket are easily removed as the M/C is the same.

That's option one. In fact I've been searching for a plastic bedliner to fix the hole. Granted thats not ideal but its not a work truck for me and as long as I'm wary about it...

It definately looks like you have the skill set that chopping out a piece of truck box from a jy box should be pretty easy. Pretty sure truck box floors are the same up to the late 80s. I kinda used to taking what I need and making it work, pays to be creative. Maybe if you shorten the box youll get the panel that way.

It's a carbon copy of my truck grumpy! cept I dont have AC lol.

My box is rusty like that to. my tire holder is on that side. There was a tarp shoved behind it for years as it sat in the field. well it at a hole in the box to.

Sending units seem to be a common thing to go bad lol.

I have manual brakes to. Id like to see your setup when it's done being converted.

Yeah, I was thinking that I could use the sheet metal from the other side to patch it as well.

Stuffz, here's the bracket in all it's hammertone silver glory. It's what I had on hand.

It's dang near identical to my '73. Mine is light blue, but other than that, same truck.

Just to clarify, SUPER camper specials had the set back axles. You could get a camper special in '78 and '79 with a standard wheelbase. How do I know? I own one.

NOW. What to do with it? Buy a '69 Dodge Charger and paint it orange. Then buy a '79 Jeep CJ5 and paint it white. Now park your truck in between the other two.

I guess I originally didn't specify, I'd never heard of a F100 Camper Special.

I guess I could grow my beard back, wear my overalls and a tan button up shirt with a red cap and drive around spouting wisdom......

It would still have to be an F-250 or 350.

Believe it or not, it was my plan to paint my truck white. A friend of mine has a General Lee.

Camper Special's were introduced in 1965 F100/250, in 1967 F350.

But, there were no F100 Camper Special's available after 1967.

F350's on the 140" wheelbase, all are Regular Cabs: 1973/76 Super Camper Special / 1973/79 Trailer Special / 1977/79 Camper Special.

Ford dropped "Super" from the name after 1976. All are Styleside pickups with Dana 70's that are set back further than other wheelbases.

Have the spare tire stored behind a door located in the right quarter panel in front of the wheel.

btw: The OP's truck has deluxe dealer installed A/C .. but its "hang-on" glove box is missing.

The deluxe A/C bezel is HUGE, sweeps across the entire right side of the dash, covers up the original glove box. Deluxe A/C came with a hang-on glove box, bolted to the bottom of the dash.

Left: Deluxe dealer installed A/C bezel and related parts / Right (lower): Hang-on glove box.

Also I went to a car show this summer in Guthrie, OK and bought a nice 1973 Oklahoma tag. I have the original receipt for the original tag and know the number. Was thinking about buying a few tags with the right numbers and having the 'original' tag welded up.
