Crossover pipe for a 49 Ford F-1???

Ok folks, I'm stumped again. I've got a 1949 Ford F-1 I am proudly dropping a completely rebuilt 50 8BA into (yes, yes I am boasting....), however, I don't know if these were supposed to have a crossover pipe or not. I want to set this baby up as close to original as I can. So.... is there supposed to be a crossover pipe or two seperate pipes from the exhaust manifolds that tie into one exhaust?

The crossover as above is definitely the more original way to go.
I used headers on my truck and I like the little bit of extra performance and sound that I get. I have three different cars/trucks setup this way running into duels...slim

Ross' pic looks like whats on my 52.....don't know if it's original. I thought the cross over was a passenger car thing? I think I have some manifolds, they might be buried in the snow though....

As I mentioned in my first post (#2), I have a crossover pipe that I saved when I removed the 239 out of my 52. I sent you an email through FTE.
