alright this question has probably been answered before but the answers i read were hard to understand for me anyways so on my 92 bronco it has quad suspension and i was wondering if i could just put single shocks up front and in the rear. cause right now it rides really really stiff i would like a tad bit of cushion on speed bumps, and what ever else but any advice would be great guys thanks
Sure you can run just two shocks on the front. The shocks behind the front axle are the standard shocks, the shocks infront of the front axle are the auxillary shocks, the aux. shocks would be the ones you would want to remove.

I put new 4 new Bilsteins on (2 front/2 rear) and didn't change the aux. shocks in front. Rides and handles great. I probably will change the aux shocks in front to Bilsteins also, maybe in the spring so I don't have to work in the snow.
I had a 92 with the factory auxiliary shocks and ended up doing exactly what you are talking about. If you don't do a lot of towing or heavy hauling the extra pair up front make the thing ride like a boxcar. Keep the front sway bar attached though if you have it because it will help with body roll in urban environments. Having the sway bar for crawling will suck though.
so for a daily driver and not much towing at all but i do, do quite a bit of wheeling/mudding/hunting on rough and steep terrain so i should leave the aux. on and put new shocks behind the front axle if i read it correctly. and for the rear is it the same thing or?????????????? thanks
I personally don't like the aux shocks or either sway bar for wheeling. The extra shocks up front slow down the reaction time in the suspension and for on-road they make for a pretty stiff ride. The sway bars are nice on-road however for taking corners and cloverleafs. They do their job of limiting body roll. For the best of both worlds you have to deal with quick disconnects and pinning the sway bars up when you are wheeling though. I think it is worth it though because I hate losing articulation off-road.
alright thanks for the help i probably wont be doing that right away (got senior project to worry about at the time) but sometime in the near future. thanks again.
